About me

Who am I?
Hi I'm Fiona, a multi disciplined, mixed media visual artist based in North Yorkshire.
I absolutely love colour, lettering and nature and sharing my slice of consciousness through my Art.
What I do
I create mixed media drawings/paintings, which explore the connectivity of life on this planet. I produce one off hand painted garments, using my unique calligraphic style, which I began developing in my teens. I also hand-build clay forms.
I use Cruelty-free and Vegan art supplies of archival quality.
How I do it
Inspiration can strike at any time so I always have a pen and pad close to hand (even on my bedside table.) An overheard snippet of conversation, a song lyric or quotation can act as a catalyst in my creative journey. Ideas are noted, sketched and tested in different media. Experimentation is both an educative and enriching experience and the foundation of my work.
I am largely self taught, although did attend Leeds College of Art in 2016 as a mature student, where I was awarded a Distinction for my kinetic ceramic sculpture, Change.
Why I do it
I enjoy creating work that challenges societal norms. I like to explore issues that resonate deeply such as mental health stigma, mental wellness, environmental damage & degradation and the cognitive dissonance of the masses, who follow mainstream narratives and turn a blind eye to the Truth.
I aim to give a voice to all sentient beings, who are purposely unheard eliciting empathy, reaction and action from the viewer.
